Ride Leader- Judy Rogers

Proposed Route-

Let’s warm up those saddles with the first long ride of the season. It’ll be a full day
of nice 2 lane highways east to Burlington, CO. Top off your tanks and be ready to go by 8:00 a.m. We’ll
head out US 36 thru the countryside and make a couple of stops along the way.

We’ll get to Burlington about noon, rest and take a ride on the famous 1905 Philadelphia Toboggan
Company (PTC) carousel #6, now better known as the Kit Carson County Carousel. There is also a
Wurlitzer Monster Military Band Organ to provide a period musical feel to the ride. This carousel
originally spun its magic at Elitch Gardens in Denver before being replaced with a modern carousel
(in the 1920’s). After lunch, we’ll head back toward Denver.

The return route will be either a relaxing southern route on Hwy 86 or a straight shot up I-70,
depending on group preferences and weather conditions.

For more background on the carousel, check out the website for Burlington.
