Let's Get Lost with Fluffy is a SUCCESS!

Nancy Stern-Jude - June 23rd 2008

I want to thank everyone who attended the Let's Get Lost With Fluffy ride on Sunday, June 22. We started the ride at IHOP in Castle Rock with 10 bikes and 12 people. We then headed over to Xtreme Performance where we added two more bikes. Lynn was the designated photographer since Mark was on a plane!

As we headed towards 105, we lost three bikes (darm those traffic lights). When we came to an intersection, Gary Cox was nice enough to show me which way to go as we headed back towards the scenic route. Eventually we came to Parker Road where we turned south (yes, I knew what direction - scary, isn't it?!?!?).

As we entered Colorado Springs, Bob Ross took over the lead because he knew where we should park for easy access. We gathered together and decided to meet back at the bikes at 3:00 p.m. We all headed in search of Dave Mikelson and Larry Faut (no, they were not entered into a contest - they just wanted to show off their bikes on the main drag). We did find them and admired the beautiful work done to their respective bikes.

At this point, we broke off into smaller groups to check out the vendors, bikes and people. Rick, Doug and Lynn may have believed I was either promoting BRP, Xtreme Performance or both because I kept talking to people who had the new BRP Spyder. A good friend of mine who used to ride a Virago was there with her new Spyder.

The skies did open up briefly and at that point, Larry, Michelle, Dave and Kathy decided to head on home. Shortly afterwards, Rick, Doug and Lynn took off in search of Blue Bell Ice Cream in Woodland Hills (they found the ice cream and rain too!). I headed back down main street where I hooked up with Bob and Jackie. When they decided to head out, I walked back with them to see who was left in the parking lot. Gary called at that point to say they were heading towards the bikes to head back. No brainer for me because Gary promised ice cream in Palmer Lake. The only bike left at that point was the new guy, Marc, and he had decided to stay around longer.

Gary led us back to Palmer Lake where we sat and enjoyed good ice cream while watching the clouds coming in. Shortly before we headed out, Bob and Jackie stopped for their treat and then we took off towards Sedalia. At the interection of Sante Fe, Bob, Jackie, Joe and Julie headed north and Gary, Donna and I headed south.

I hope everyone had a good time because I know I did with the help of others to make this ride fun. I will be posting pictures as soon as I get the film developed. If you have pictures, please post them with this adventure.
