09-11-2004 Royal Gorge

Lynn Van Eperen - September 11th 2004

The ride went down through Colorado Springs (although it did not stop there due to the new ordinances) and up through Florence, through Canyon City and on to the Royal Gorge, where Judy talked them into giving us a group discount. !!

The group went on the incline railway, the arial tramway and rode across the bridge and back. Beal and Jane headed straight home, while the rest of the group took the roundabout route through Florissant.

On the way back, we hit a road stoppage to wait for a Flight for Life chopper to pick up a downed biker who appeared to have come into one of the corners way too hot. It looked like he hit the granite.

Nat said that the injured rider had been giving someone Nat knows grief about going too slowly. Be careful out there-canyon walls are not very forgiving of errors.
